This workshop explores the interplay of the psyche, spirit and shadow in sandplay with case examples and experiential exercises. Participants will learn definitions of Jung’s concepts of the shadow and archetypes in relation to the co-transference and the psychological development of both client and therapist. Case material will focus on how the personal and/or collective shadow appears in sandplay and ways to work creatively with the non-verbal communication in sandplay and play therapy. Jung’s concepts of active imagination and the transcendent function will be integrated experientially as participants work with co-transference using aesthetic response with art and/or movement followed by discussion.
