Sandplay Therapists of America National Conference

The STA Program Committee is pleased to announce the opening of registration for the 2020 National Conference, available through our website: https://www.sandplay.org/events/sta-2020-national-conference-registration/. We are excited by the response to the conference theme by Keynote Speaker Lionel Corbett, Plenary Speakers Maria Ellen Chiaia, Lauren Cunningham, and Judy Zappacosta. We are also energized by the prospect of hearing from Plenary Speaker Christian Roesler on research in Sandplay, current and potential. Most of all we are heartened by the response of the Sandplay community: we thank those of you who have come forth with workshop presentations on the numinous, current research in sandplay, experiential workshops including movement, art, nature, active imagination and many other applications and amplifications of Kalffian Sandplay. Together we have created a rich and varied program.

Our brochure is attached here and is also available on our conference web page. Breakout sessions will include the ever-popular group consultation sessions, as well as many offerings by members at all levels. All sessions are led or sponsored by teaching members and qualify for STA education or consultation hours towards certification. Additionally, many sessions will carry APT credits, and a total of 22.5 CE hours may be earned by attending the pre-conference and conference. A mentoring lunch (included in registration) will offer more information about levels of membership, and our member meeting and dinner (also included in registration) will give you a chance to meet the board and committee members, participate in board and committee elections, and to hear and give feedback about how STA supports the practice of Sandplay.

The national conference gives us the opportunity for community gatherings, including a meeting of regional groups, the silent auction benefitting the Journal of Sandplay Therapy, special early morning experiential activities, and especially the experience of being together in community. Scholarships for students new to Sandplay and work/exchange opportunities are available; please see more information in the brochure and on the conference web page.

If you are new to STA, we are eager to welcome you and help you find connections with us; we also welcome and will be honoring our founding and long-time members during the conference.

We look forward to welcoming you to Redondo Beach in June!
